About this event
Manhattan Public Library Auditorium Preserving family photographs isn’t just about saving images—it’s about safeguarding stories for generations. In this hands-on workshop, experts from the Riley County Historical Museum and the Chapman Center for Rural Studies will guide participants through best practices for archiving, handling, and scanning historic photos. Attendees may bring up to five standard-sized photographs to digitize during the session, gaining practical experience with tools and techniques they can use at home. Presenters will also introduce the Riley County Historical Museum’s new Digital Collections, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how local history is being preserved and made accessible online. Featuring: Mary Kohn, Director, Chapman Center for Rural Studies, K-State Melanie Highsmith, Curator of Education and Design, Riley County Historical Museum Dawn Munger, Curator of Collections, Riley County Historical Museum
